RECOPE’s news regarding the use of ethanol

January 20, 2020

On the subject of RECOPE’s news regarding the use of ethanol in premium-grade gasoline as of the month of June, once again Taboga clarifies the following:

1. Taboga will not participate in RECOPE’s initiative to combine premium-grade gasoline with ethanol. Our entire ethanol production for this year has been sold in the United States and Europe.

2. Taboga produces an ethanol category known as “Advance”, a product highly requested in international markets due to its premium quality and sustainability standards, endorsed by the following certifications:

  • ISCC Certification (International Sustainability Carbon Certification): Applicable worldwide for greenhouse gases and sustainability.
  • EPA registration (Environmental Protection Agency): Air and water quality are monitored, and efforts are made to reduce pollutant exposure in air, soil and water.
  • CARB registration: A reduction in fuel’s carbon intensity provided each year between 2011 and 2020.
  • ISO 17025:2005 Standard: Alcohol laboratory tests accredited by the Costa Rican Accreditation Entity (ECA).

3. We share the country goal of reducing the greenhouse gas footprint. However, Taboga has not had any communication whatsoever with RECOPE about this specific project.
