Taboga's sugar assortment comprises raw, white, white 150grs special sugars and Demerara (raw sugar). We have also ventured into the production of export quality sugar in the varieties organic, normal, organic-Demerara and organic-Golden.

Flavored sugars

Taboga offers three innovative products designed for those seeking exotic flavors. A blend of brown sugar with real fruit: coconut, pineapple, and mango is the perfect way to add a tropical kick to your cakes, frostings, flans, bread, beverages, and so many other culinary creations.

These products are vegan, gluten-free and NON-GMO.

Molasses is a by-product of the sugar production. It results from the extraction and boiling of sugar cane juice. The resulting dark syrup has less sucrose than sugar and it has significant amounts of vitamins and minerals. Taboga molasses is a sulfur-free, kosher certified and gluten-free product and it is available in 350 ml bottles.

Taboga manufactures alcohol from sugar cane molasses, a by-product of the sugar production. This product is marketed in two main presentations: alcohol REN (also known as ethanol 96% v/v) and anhydrous alcohol (also known as bioethanol + 99.97% v/v).

Alcohol REN
It is the equivalent of ethanol, also known as alcohol. It has an alcoholic content greater than 96%v/v, which will then be rectified before being used as raw material for the manufacture of liquors. It is currently exported to Europe.

Alcohol Anhydrous or Bioethanol
Mixed with gasoline it is used as bioethanol-blended fuel, mainly for the transportation sector. It is produced from 96 %v/v alcohol from which water is removed until reaching an alcoholic content greater than 99.85 % v/v. It is currently exported to Europe and the United States.

Bioethanol is a clean-combustion fuel that can reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by up to 70% compared to fossil fuels. Countries such as the United States and from Europe have set targets of up to 20% for the use of bioethanol. Also, sustainability criteria for the producing countries have been reinforced. Bioethanol, therefore, is seen by Taboga as an interesting opportunity in the context of increasingly green economies.

Taboga makes use of the sugar cane bagasse as combustible material to feed the steam boilers of the sugar mill. The steam is then directed to two turbo generators that produce electricity. This process generates sustainable and environmentally friendly electricity. It covers all the plant´s energy needs and also generates a surplus that is sold to the local grid run by the Costa Rican Electricity Institute (ICE -Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad).

PRO-TAB, a product based on dry yeast with a protein content of 36% is ideal for the elaboration of concentrated animal feeds.
